5 out of 5 stars My son came out of a rollover accident unscathed in this carseat!   July 28, 2009

This carseat was a god-send, my husband was in a rollover accident with my son in the car in his Britax Boulevard carseat. Thanks to the car (subaru WRX) and the carseat, my son emerged from the car unscathed and said "Dad, your car is broken". The carseat had no stress marks and the tether indicator made it easy to verify that the webbing had not been damaged in the wreck. I'm not sure if the side impact made the difference, but the fact is my son was totally untouched and had no pain or whiplash after a high-speed complete rollover accident on the freeway. I highly recommend this carseat!!!

5 out of 5 stars Don't let its size fool you - it fits in a small car   May 23, 2009

When my son started outgrowing the Roundabout, I tried the Boulevard and was very surprised to see that it actually fit well in our 2004 Subaru Forester, which has a notoriously small, narrow back seat. Install was easy and rock-solid.

Although the Boulevard "looks" huge in the store, it's OK once installed rear-facing because the base is very compact. Also, this car seat has a small footprint so it doesn't hang off the edge.

Side to side, the Marathon and the Boulevard are about the same size. The Boulevard is actually smaller than the Graco Sport car seat, which has a very large base and could not be secured tightly in the Forester. Seat depth from the back to the crotch strap is 6" for the Marathon, 6.5" for the Boulevard and 7" for the Roundabout, so if you have a boy, go for the Boulevard.

Although the front passenger seat of my car is moved forward more than I'd like, I can still sit there in a pinch (I'm 5'8" and my knees are 2" from the glove compartment, with the seat very upright). In back, the car seat takes up the whole right seat (there's not much of a "center seat" anyway), so there's really only room for an adult behind the driver. I must clarify that this happens with any car seat I've tried - the problem is the size of the back seat, not the car seat.

The Boulevard car seat will not fit rearfacing behind the driver's seat in my small car. Front-facing, the size of the Boulevard is not an issue.

As with any Britax, the front passenger seat should not be moved or reclined after the car seat is installed - it could interfere with the back tether, the angle of the car seat and the clearance between the back of the front seat and the Britax (there must be about an inch or two fingers, to allow the car seat some give in case of a crash). Follow the manual's instructions to make sure the seat is level - there's a red line on the base as a guide.

The Boulevard also fits well in a Honda Accord, Nissan XTerra, Toyota Rav4 and Lexus SUVs. However, if your car is really, really small and you want that side impact protection, try the Britax Diplomat, about the size of the Roundabout but with wings and a 40 lb. maximum weight limit. If the Diplomat doesn't work, and you need a rear-facing seat, it's time for a minivan.

5 out of 5 stars Great Buy   December 22, 2008

After 9 months of Graco Infant car seat, I needed to get new convertible car seat for my daughter. After much research, I decided to get a Britax. But I couldn't choose which one. Marathon, Decathlon, or Boulevard. Finally my husband decided to get a Boulevard as safer option.
We love this car seat. My daughter is very comfortable in it and she doesn't sweat or cry as much as in Graco. It is very easy to install and very secure.

5 out of 5 stars well constructed   October 30, 2008

We bought this seat for our 10 month old who just didn't like her infant seat anymore and was getting too tall. She loves this seat! We've had it for a little over 2 months now. She is rear facing.

I was a bit worried about the "wings" of this seat, but she doesn't mind them at all and I feel better that she has them.

The seat is VERY large especially in the rearfacing position, you can't see the baby while you are in the front seat unless you have a mirror installed in the middle of the back seat and the baby is on one side.

This seat is constructed very well. The straps don't get twisted ever. And she is very comfortable. Because the seat sets up so high, she can see over the back of the seat in our 05 Pathfinder.

Would recommend to anyone.

5 out of 5 stars High quality, great purchase!   January 30, 2009

After hours of online research, we decided to go with the Britax Boulevard once my daughter outgrew her Graco Snugride (which we also liked). This seat is exceptionally large, so I do not see it fitting in a sports car. I was impressed with the true side impact protection wings, which is what eventually persuaded me to buy this, especially for when we move her from the middle position when another baby comes along. She does have to lean forward to look out the side windows, but has a great view out of the back. They also make a comfy pillow when sleeping. The fabric is very soft and I like the neutral colors. The headrest/strap height adjustment is very easy. I love the tether, it is the only brand to offer a rear-facing tether, you just have to spend a little extra time figuring it out. (I took it to a local specialist in installing car seats.) All of these things make it probably the safest on the market. It is rear-facing to 35 pounds, and forward-facing to 65, so we should get a lot of mileage out of it!

Complaints: The buckle leans towards the back of the seat and you do have to fish it out from under them each time they get in. I find the harness adjuster strap quite difficult to tighten. You cannot tighten it in one smooth motion as you can with the snugride. You have to jerk it out in several repeated motions. Besides this I am very happy with it. We bought it on sale and with a $200 gift card, otherwise I would have been hard-pressed to spend this much on it.

One final note, I was pleased to see the "born on" sticker on the seat. Somehow, it was only about 2 weeks prior to arriving at my house and it was made in Charlotte, just a couple hours from us!
