5 out of 5 stars Had 2+ years, Love it!   July 26, 2010

We have our 5-year old and 2 year old both in a Graco Nautilus and have been more than happy. They both seem very comfortable, and have plenty of room, etc. We've been using at least one Nautilus since soon after they were first introduced, more than 2 years ago. That seat cover has been through the washing machine numerous times, and still looks great. I love the sturdy, built in cup holders, and my kids love the little 'toy holders' built into their arm rests. And my 5-year old still is very comfortable in her 5 point harness, which makes me feel more comfortable as well. Highly recommend.

These little ones grow like crazy, and they constantly need bigger and bigger sizes in shoes, clothes, etc.. However, with the Nautilis, there is no need to purchase a new setup when they grow to the next size because this restraint is designed to accomodate the change. My daughter is growing like a weed, but with the simple design of the chair, all it takes are a few clicks and/or re-route of the belts and your back in business. The entire back even comes off so you can utilize it as a booster for when they get older. It's like this chair's design grows right along with your child, all the way until they are big enough for the vehicle seat belt only. A big relief knowing this will be the last restraint we'll need for her. And I'm impressed with the quality of the device as well, from the amount of padding to the design of the restraints. We have to move the seat into different cars throughout the week as well (grandma's car, mom's and my car too), but because it has it's own 3-point attachment straps, you can just snap it in whichever vehicle you use, or just use the seat belt that's already in the car. It appears that alot of thought went into the design of this restraint. We've just bought another one b/c we recently learned we are expecting another little one.

5 out of 5 stars Wish my car seat was like this :)   August 25, 2010

Our toddler turned 1 year and it was getting increasingly difficult to get her to fit into a rear facing seat - it was time to change the car seat.

And here is our story of how we ended up with car seat and why we like it so much :) and why you might want to consider the evenflo triumph depending on your child's height and weight

Even though the government allows a child above 20 lbs to be placed front facing - it is always better to sit the child rear facing - even if your baby and you do no like it - safety comes first. With this point in mind - we started looking for a bigger rear facing seat, unfortunately this seat (Graco Nautilus) cannot be rear faced, so we went with the evenflo triumph.

Evenflo triumph is a great seat, it supports up to 65 lbs, can be rear faced or front faced, comes with a harness adjustment ... + it feels like a very safe seat, but we had a problem : our baby girl is one of the tall ones - she is at a 97 percentile height (only 3 percent of girls at her age are taller than her) - which means we could not sit her rear faced in the evenflow triumph without making it extremely uncomfortable for her - a bit of discomfort is ok, but having to fold legs and and struggle through a long journey is not worth it.

So we had an option - to either keep the evenflo triumph and make it front faced and use it until she is 65 lbs or buy a new car seat like the Graco Nautilus which we can use till she gets to 100 lbs. We went with the Graco Nautilus and cannot be any more happier.

Good:
+ Solid build quality - Aluminium backing, feels heavy and sturdy
+ Very comfortable - Been on a 6 hr drive and our baby just slept through it
+ Cup holder is nice thing to have - use it to keep water, small toys ... whatever it takes to keep the baby through the journey
+ Easy to install (i have a 07 Camry)
+ Easy to adjust harness, fasten the child and unfasten
+ Lasts from 22 lbs to 100 lbs - so the only thing you will have to buy after the infant seat

Bad:
- Nothing particular I found, except that if I wish if could also use this rear faced.

And remember - if you can fit your baby rear faced - try to keep him/her rear faced for as much longer as you can

4 out of 5 stars Fantastic car seat   May 22, 2010

This car seat is fantastic. It is used in our second car and my daughter seems comfortable. I like that it is tall and when she falls asleep her head doesn't slump. At 21 mos she is very tall and this car seat allows her legs to be in a comfortable position. It is heavy and not for those who move it in and out of a vehicle. My first concern was the red spacers for a shoulder strap, but my daughter's shoulders don't touch the hard plastic at all.

4 out of 5 stars Nice, comfy seat   June 5, 2010

We bought this for our 21 month old and so far she really likes it, which means I do, too.

It seems comfortable to her and she likes the little cubbies on either side that she can store things in. It looks like it will be comfortable for her for a long time, too.

It's easy to assemble--I think there's two snap together pieces--out of the box and extremely easy to install with the LATCH system. The shoulder straps for the 5 point harness were too low for my daughter with the padding on, but you can't use the padding if you raise the straps. However, if I took the padding out, the straps were a bit too high. We found a solution (she has to be without the padding with the straps on the low setting) so I'm only mentioning all this because you need to uninstall the car seat (at least partially anyway) to adjust the straps. Make sure the straps fit your child the right way before you install it, unless you like doing it more than once. Her other car seat, which is the only forward facing one I have any experience with, is a 3-in-1 Safety First Alpha Luxe Echelon, and you raise and lower the straps from the front. So I was not entirely happy when I realized that every time she grows, I have to pull the seat out and re-do the harness. I like getting them installed professionally and leaving them there, which is not a practical option here. That's the only thing I really don't like, although those guards that go on the straps near the childrens' shoulders are on with flimsy vecro. I'm pretty sure that if my daughter took a look at them, it wouldn't take her long to figure that out, and they will become projectiles. I wish I could put the cup holder on the other side (it needed to be on the passenger side of the car) but that thing's not going anywhere.
