Amazon.com Product Description
The True Fit Recline (model C650) is our newest addition to the True Fit Convertible Car Seat family. This seat delivers all of the standard features from our original True Fit with several new features. This seat features the standard no rethread easy to adjust harness. The harness is for use up to 65 lbs. in both rear and forward facing installations. Our easy off head rest and easy off pads are standard too. The C650 model features smaller bottom rails and a flip foot on the bottom---flip it forward for rear facing installation and flip it back when you move to the forward facing installation. This seat is fully lined with Expanded Poly Propylene foam and has deep side wings that really surround your child. We have added a center angle indicator in the front of our seat for use when installing in the rear facing position. This new easy to read indicator will help you determine if you have installed your seat correctly. For your infant, it will indicate the Safety Advocate recommended 45 degree angle for installation (without head rest) and as you keep it rear facing to 35lbs (with the head rest) you can check for the recommended 35 degree angle for installation. We have also moved both side LATCH attachments so they are easy to access when you are installing your seat and easy to secure when you remove the seat from your vehicle.

Why buy the True Fit convertible seat? Did you know that you can use our seat from 5 to 65 lbs and during the entire time of use your child will be secured in a 5 pt harness? Most Safety Advocates recommend keeping your child in a harness as long as possible! Advocates also recommend keeping your little one rear facing for as long as possible. We have a removable head rest, that really is easy to remove. One finger lifts the release and you are able to pull the head rest off until you need it, usually up to 22lbs. As your infant starts to grow, simply add the head rest back on and you are good to go in the rear facing position up to 35lbs. When your infant is ready to watch you drive (at 35 lbs or so) simply make sure that head rest is in place and turn your seat around. Remember, even in the forward facing position, your child will still be using the 5 pt harness. Let's not forget about installation, all of our True Fit Convertibles feature built in lock offs and LATCH system, for both the rear and forward facing positions. We also color code all of our belt paths, making it easier for you to locate just where you should be putting your car seat belts when you install your seat. Wondering about Side Impact Testing? The True Fit seats all have deep side wings and they are all side impact tested to International Standards!

Ever try to adjust or rethread the harness straps on a car seat? Unless you have a few hours to spare, you will really appreciate our no rethread, easy to adjust harness system. We have easy to access shoulder belt height adjusters on each side of the seat and they are clearly marked with recommended positions (four) based on whether you are installing in a rear or forward facing position. All of this means you never have to spend time trying to figure out how to correctly rethread or adjust the harness. Does your child ever make a little mess with their animal crackers in the car? The combination of our no rethread harness and our easy off pad makes clean up a snap, literally, our pad snaps right off. Simply lift the center flap on the pad, unsnap the sides and clean up is as simple as can be. Once your pad is clean, it snaps back on in seconds hassle free!

As your child grows, have no worries that they will not fit in your True Fit. The interior dimensions of our seat are large and comfortable. In fact, with the extra cushy seat pads and roomier seat it may be hard to convince your child to leave their seat!

When you are ready to choose your favorite True Fit model, let us help you decide.

  • True Fit is the only car seat manufacturer with the removable top portion for rear facing. This is a big deal as it relates to installation. By removing the top portion adults in the driver position have more legroom than what is available using competitive convertible car seats.
  • Another huge feature is the external adjustment of the harness. Virtually all other manufacturers require you to rethread their harness in order to make adjustments. Utilizing an external adjustment simplifies the process and assures you of proper installation.
  • The external measurements for our seat are comparable to all other major competitors. The big difference lies in the internal dimensions where we are wider and deeper allowing the child to better fit in the seat ergonomically for a longer life cycle. Another big issue is cushioning where the child sits as our seats offer more padding in all areas of contact.
  • We now offer external mounted latch (C650 and C670 models) making for easy installation for those using this method of installation.
  • It may be trivial but we are the only manufacturer whose cup holders are level when the seat is installed in the car. All other brands incorporating cup holders are level only in the store.

5 out of 5 stars Great Car Seat!   June 24, 2010

After much debating I chose this car seat as an additional car seat so my son can ride in my husband's vehicle. I was hoping it would fit in my car rear facing which it did. I was very impressed by the features prior to purchasing and am as impressed with them once we received the seat. It is relatively easy to install, has newer and better features than previous models. I like the level at the bottom which tells you how reclined your seat is. I like the no re-threading feature. I love how comfortable the seat is! I must say it is much more cushioned than the other seat we have, the Britax Marathon. It is also roomier and wider. I like that this seat goes to 50inches as opposed to 49 with the Britax Marathon. I also like the option of using it without the headrest for infants and the included insert for infants. I like the price, lower than the Britax seats. I get 7 years of use out of this one, 6 years with Britax. So far no complaints, we chose the Urban Life and it's a little darker than I thought but not too dark. Overall I would highly recommend this seat.

This is our second TrueFit car seat. We also own the original TrueFit. This carseat is very easy to install and has the same great features as the original, with some updated features as well. The recline indicator on the front of the seat is great for rear facing. I would definitely recommend this seat to anyone. It also fits great in the 3rd row of a vehicle, such as a mini van or SUV. Plenty of leg room and the kids love how comfortable this seat is.

I took advantage of the free returns offered by Amazon and compared this 650 model with the 670 model and also with the model that is the same as Beethoven's 5th and a chocolate bar made by the brand starting with an E.

I'm not going to be keeping this one, so here are the cons first:
1) The fabric is a bit rough. Granted my baby most likely won't be naked in it, but he will be warm and in as little clothing as possible during our California summers.
2a) The removable back/seat padding piece is kind of hokey. It has open teeth for the straps to fit into but it looks like it would get folded up weird and maybe get frustrating for both myself and the child.
2b) The aforementioned pad covers up a square cut-out in the seat cover that would collect crap. It seems like having the extra padding is a must just to keep the hole covered up and that it would be uncomfortable for chubby legs to be rubbing up on the hole if it weren't covered up.
3) There is no head padding for an infant. Most every other seat that is for infants+ has a little something for their floppy head. Not this one.
4) The recline is a bit of an overstatement. It's not like the recline feature on most other reclining seats. It's a tiny plastic flip lever that raises the edge of the seat maybe an inch up.
5) It is purely a plastic frame. Has no metal frame in it. The E brand's seat does have a metal frame.
6) The main fabric is attached to the seat with snaps. I would be super afraid to wash this pad. At least if it had elastic you could force it back into position if it happened to shrink. Also, elastic loops are so much easier to fix/repair/replace on your own.
7) The manual doesn't say how the level is supposed to read for correct installation. I read and reread it looking for it. Instead it's only color coded with numbers and x's. I assume that for rear facing the ball is supposed to be in the Green zone with the 2's and for front facing it's supposed to be in the yellow with the 1's? Or maybe it's always supposed to be in the Green. Who knows. I'm not keeping it so I don't care.
8) The head rest piece for the booster doesn't lock into place. It's just a tight hold.

Pros!
1) The removable hokey pad is really padded! Seems like that would be really nice, and also add an inch to the kids height, and maybe be uncomfortable for a wide rear.
2) The cup holder can be put on either side of the seat!
3) Fits really well in the Prius! Fully 'reclined' rear facing, the passenger seat can still sit back almost all the way back. If the passenger seat is pulled up a bit it could even be slightly reclined and not hit the car seat.
