Large but very safe September 2, 2009 E. A. Sehlhorst (Cinti, OH) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
If you are looking for a slim car seat, this is not the one for you. I don't think it would be possible to fit 3 of these in a row. It is very large. But the seat is very safe in my opinion (it is rear facing to 40lbs and 5 point harness to 65) (new research shows toddlers are more than five times safer if they remain rear-facing)the fabric is nice, and has a built in level. If you prefer a slimmer seat but want the safety of rear facing to 40 lbs the sunshine radian 80 is a great seat, we have 3 of these in a row (rear to 40 and 5 point harness to 80.)
It is large, but not too large. August 19, 2010 GI Jeffro 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
First off, I have this seat in the middle of the back seat of my Honda Civic. Not many people on here have a smaller car than I have. I read where someone couldn't fit this in a van, they must be doing something wrong. It is big, but I like how high the sides come up on it. My car is a tin can when it comes to side impact, and this seat provides more protection. I read where people had too much play in the LATCH belt, they are doing something wrong. I believe the instructions suggest that you put weight on the seat while tightening down. One person suggested putting your knee in it while tightening down. My car is too small to do that, so I lay across the seat while tightening down. When I'm done, there's absolutely zero play in the LATCH belt. It's so tight that I have to loosen it in order to get enough play in it to take one of the hooks out of the anchor. Others have said that it is difficult to get the straps right, that is because they are trying to adjust it while it is attached to the vehicle. The instructions clearly say to adjust the harness to your child before installing the seat. Folks, make sure you are using a product correctly before bashing it.
Luxurious Bartlett Cover and Easy to install. VERY HAPPY!! November 7, 2009 Mommaof 1 cutie pie (PALM SPRINGS, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a beautiful car seat compared to other car seats in it's price category and higher price categories. It has a higher rear facing limit then the marathon. It is very well padded and has much more padding and room than my Graco infant safeseat that went to 30 lbs did. My son hated that thing, it was so narrow, i felt like i was squishing him to get him in, he is much happier in his big boy seat!
It does have more of a recline than other convertible car seats but I like it.
I got a very good install in all of the cars I have put it in, Hyundai accent, ford focus, nissan pathfinder. I did have trouble tightening the straps all of the way to make them snug on my sons shoulders when It was installed rear facing, I will be calling Graco about it very soon and will post an update.
As for being wider than other car seats well it is only about 1 inch wider than the Marathon, I just wanted to clarify that because people keep saying how wide it is. It not as wide as everyone is making it out to be. The base is very thin at only about 14inches so I think it will fit in an airplane very well. Which I will be trying out shortly on my trip back to Australia, I will keep you posted.
The Bartlett cover is very luxurious. I think they have changed the elastic around the cupholders to be better now because I had read some complaints on it falling off, well this is definitely not a problem for me. I purchased mine 10/25/09-car seat manufactured in September 09 and it seems to be well attached on my seat.
Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase. It seems very safe and very comfy for my son. Both of which are very important to me.
Wish I could ride in this seat! August 29, 2009 Joei O. (Plainfield, IL USA) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this car seat for my very TALL 2 year old after she seemed to be out growing her other convertible car seat. I was also looking for one for my son, who I just can't put in a pink flowery car seat... My daughter really loves this seat! She loves the cup holders and the pillow. It is very comfy, too. It took about 5 minutes to get it in the car and was really easy... I have only had Graco. I also looked at the Britax, whic didn't seem as cushy or comfy. I trust Graco and thought it was a really good price. I did not buy from Amazon, but from Target since it isn't a super saving shipping option... I am going to buy another one soon for my little guy! I know the researching of this can make your head spin! When I got sold on Britax, I read other reviews saying they were not necessarily safter... Then I got sold on the Evenflo, but I liked how the Graco could be rear facing for longer. I didn't leave my daughter rear facing past her first birthday, but after reading things, I think my son will be. I also want to have both kiddos in the 5 point harness as long as possible... maybe even until they themselves can drive! Good luck!

We bought this carseat for our 2yo daughter who was close to outgrowing the weight limit on her Alpha Omega Elite's 5pt harness rating. We want to keep her in the harness for as long as possible. We have a Subaru WRX, and the backseat space is limited. Even with as small as our backseat is, there is still plenty of room for another carseat. The seat fits in either the middle or the sides great. It looks much more bulky than it is in your car. She loves the big sides for the side impact, they're perfect for when she falls asleep. Her head doesn't fall forward at all. The cupholders are an added bonus.
