The Cancer Research Council

Cancer Research Council consists of 15 members representing a range of expertise and experience appointed by the Director of Health Services. The Chief of the California Cancer Registry serves as an ex officio, nonvoting member.

Except for purposes of their initial appointment, all members serve for a term of four years.

The Council assists in:

  • Development of the strategic objectives and research priorities of the CRP.
  • Resource allocation across the CRP research priorities.
  • Periodic review of the program and its financial status.
  • Development of guidelines for conduct of the program.
  • Development of linkages with nonacademic entities.
  • Development of criteria for granting awards.
  • Review of RFA process.
  • Review study section reports for grant awards.
  • Development of recommendations for grant awards to be funded.
  • Development of oversight mechanisms for the dissemination of research results.
  • Facilitating translation of research results into appropriate applications
  • Identification and recruitment of scientists for peer review panels.
