The Council participates in the development of the strategic objectives and priorities of the program and advises on what and how many research grants should be awarded based on the priorities established and the technical merits of the proposed research. Cancer Research SectionThe Cancer Research Section (CRS) of the Department of Health Services provides overall coordination of the program; provides staff assistance to the program and council; develops administrative procedures relative to the solicitation, review, and awarding of grants; recruits and supervises research review panels; provides periodic program evaluation; provides for the dissemination of research results to the public and develops policies and procedures to facilitate the translation of research results into commercial, alternate technological, and other applications wherever appropriate and consistent with state and federal law.
